5010 Gaston is the perfect prairie home in an urban, walkable location.
Guys, I have a confession to make.
I am not a fan of Garrison Keillor. No, it’s not because of the dustup after his speaking gig at Highland Park UMC. I just don’t like talk radio, or “A Prairie Home Companion,” for that matter.
I’ll tell you what I do like: I like a good prairie home. And that’s exactly what 5010 Gaston Ave. is. I fine, well-preserved, built in 1912 prairie four-square with gorgeous wood trim and plenty of personality.
What’s not to love? Neat historical features await around every corner, and check this out: THERE’S A BASEMENT! Turn it into a wine cellar, or a tornado shelter, or a place to stash your disaster prepping supplies!
Seriously, though, it’s two stories with two-and-a-half baths, three bedrooms, and 3,144 square feet near the urban core. Gaston is incredibly walkable, and bikeable, but just in case you find yourself wanting to drive, well, there’s a gated driveway for that.
Additionally, the entire wrap-around front porch has been rebuilt with concrete, so it’s practically worry free. And there’s a really cool fireplace.
Really, it’s a diamond-in-the-rough kind of house, one that’s so pretty inside and out that traffic slows as it passes by. And at $349,000, well, it’s a total bargain!
