Thursday Three Hundred: Hipsters Live Here — The Perfect Home For The Savvy Gen Y Buyer

Published July 26, 2012 by Joanna England

This Anita Heights home is perfect for the Generation Y hipster who has had it with renting.

Everything about this home screams skinny jeans and ironic glasses. From the modern furniture straight from West Elm and the Anthropologie accessories to the hilarious print in the water closet, this two-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath cottage is Generation Y heaven.

Being a Gen Y-er, I have to admit that I am in love with this home. All of the super clean and sleek walls and floors, the fire place, the window shades — “single me” can’t wait to move in. Now that I have a baby, though … not so much. At $330,000 and 1,293 square feet, I can’t imagine me, my husband, Cooper, and all of Cooper’s copious toys fitting in here.

That’s OK, though. The perfect buyer for this house isn’t “married me.” It’s me when I wanted to be close to concert venues such as the Granada Theater and restaurants such as the San Francisco rose and bars such as Stan’s Blue Note. At 6458 Anita, you’ll be at a comfortable distance from everything Greenville Avenue has to offer without dealing with stumbling bar patrons and tons of cars parked on your street (sorry M Streets!).

Of course, being east of Abrams means you’re super close to White Rock Lake, too. Perhaps this home would appeal best to bicycle-loving hipsters?

Another reason this home appeals to my age bracket is that it’s fully remodeled. Everything in this home, from the sleek cabinets and countertops to the master bathroom is brand-spanking new. The lucky buyer of this abode, which doesn’t look anything like it was built in the 1950s, won’t have to lift a finger.
