I love it when readers send us listings they fall in love with because they’ll see things and notice things that I might not have picked up on. There are a lot of real estate addicts in Dallas, and getting mail from them puts a little spring in our step, especially when we end up loving the listing as much as they do!
Take 9710 Boedeker, marketed by Ebby agent Diane Burns for $569,000, for instance. One of our lovely sources sent it over to use saying, “Someone call Steve Martin and Diane Keaton, here’s another ‘Father of the Bride’ house!” And by golly, it’s pretty darn close!
For comparison purposes, here’s the classic American white-house-with-a-picket-fence stereotype from “Father of the Bride”:
From what I can remember, the interiors aren’t completely dissimilar from the big-screen either. Gorgeous hardwoods, beautiful finishes, and even a French marble mantle will make you feel like you’re on a movie set. This home is big enough to house Hollywood personalities, too. There are three bedrooms, three and a half baths, and 3,287 square feet on a little over a quarter of an acre in the Meadows subdivision.
You get formals and a great den, as well as a super cute kitchen. I love the glazed brick floor in the kitchen, which has a good-sized island and stainless steel appliances. It’s open to the breakfast nook, too — a perfect layout for holiday entertaining.
While the master bedroom is on the second floor, it’s huge — almost twice the size of the other two bedrooms. For being sizable, it’s still very cozy with a fireplace and a great nook that would be perfect for a reading chair.
The master bath feels more like a lounge than a lavatory. There’s a separate dressing table from the vanity, which has a dresser-style base and double sinks. There’s a jetted tub and a separate, although small, shower.
The backyard is lush and private feeling, and has an outstanding deck! The pergola really sets off the back of the house, and I could totally imagine Steve Martin walking Kimberly Williams down the aisle — right into the saltwater pool! Ha ha ha!
What do you think, does it bear a resemblance? If you want a closer look, it’s open from 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 11.
